چکیده

Avian leukosis virus is recognized as an important viral pathogen in the poultry industry, resulting salient severe economic losses due to reduced production, uneven flock growth rates, growth, and immunosuppression which predispose affected birds other infections. This study examined seroprevalence of avian (ALV) local chickens (LC) 5 different live bird markets (LBMs) Kaduna Metropolis. A total 276 sera were tested for ALV p27 antigen using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). An overall 28.3% (78/276) was recorded study. At market level, 35% (21/60), 30% (18/60), 32% (16/50), 28.6% (16/56), 14% (7/50) Sabon Tasha, Central market, Railway station, Kawo Sokoto Road LBMs respectively. With regards sex, female LC showed a significantly higher prevalence 30.5% (46/105) compared male 26.9% (46/171) with no significant difference (P > 0.05) observed. established presence sold LBMs. We recommend surveillance further studies on isolation, molecular characterization pathogenicity area.

In an attempt to determine the seroprevalence of avian leukosis virus (ALV) in exotic broiler chickens and Nigerian local chickens in Zaria, Nigeria, a total of 600 sera (300 from exotic broiler chickens and 300 from Nigerian local chickens), obtained from the live bird market in Zaria, Nigeria, were tested for ALV p27 antigen by the antigen capture enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ac-ELISA) ...

Prevalence of Avian Influenza in Live Bird Markets, Bird Gardens, and Zoos in Iran in 2015: A Cross-sectional Study

Avian Influenza (AI) H9N2 is endemic in Iran; therefore, it is necessary to estimate the disease prevalence among birds in live bird markets (LBMs) and assess the risk spread across the country. Accordingly, this study aimed to estimate the prevalence of AI subtypes in LBMs, bird gardens, and zoos during October and November 2015 in Iran and investigate the associated risk factors. Data related...

A novel subgroup of exogenous avian leukosis virus in chickens.

An avian leukosis virus with a wide host range belonging to a new subgroup for chickens was isolated from meat-type chicken lines. The virus, of which HPRS-103 strain is the prototype, was of low oncogenicity in chickens but appeared to behave like an exogenous leukosis virus. Neutralizing antibodies to the virus were found in three of five meat-type chicken lines, but not in seven layer lines....

Infection and Tumor Formation in Chickens By Avian Leukosis Virus

Lymphoid leukosis in chickens is a disease which arises from the result of complicated interaction between avian leukosis virus (ALV) as a pathogenic organism and chicken as a host. This report is intended to outline our present knowledge about genetic resistance of chickens in lymphoid leukosis. The defense of host in infectious disease could be considered dividing it into two: one as a workin...

Avian Leukosis Virus Subgroup J in Layer Chickens, China

To the Editor: In recent years, cases of avian leukosis virus subgroup J (ALV-J) infection and tumors in commercial layer chickens and breeders of egg-type chickens have been emerging in the People’s Republic of China. ALV-J was fi rst isolated from meattype chickens with myeloid leukosis in 1988. Although egg-type chickens have been experimentally infected with ALV-J to induce tumors (1), fi e...
